More snorkeling and huge waves

Back to Blackrock Beach in Kaanapali for more snorkeling today.  Tyler’s still not quite ready for ocean snorkeling (he’ll go for hours in a pool), so it was Dad’s turn to take Loch.  Only about 20 minutes in the water but we still saw our main target... the humuhumunukunukuapuaa.  Plus tons of other fish, coral, urchins and more.

2 or 3 days prior were very windy, so Blackrock Beach took on a very different look this time.  The waves had pounded the sand so hard that a huge shelf was created, with a 3-4ft drop off from sandy beach to crashing waves.  6-10ft waves while we were there, which made for a great game of “outrun the monster wave” on the beach.
