We were back at the breakwall in Lahaina today... this time with 2 long boards so we could all surf. After an hour or two of letting the adults surf (or more accurately, paddle and fall), we put Loch and Addison on the boards and took them about 50 feet into the water.
As they lay on the boards we pointed them towards the beach and waited for the right wave. When the time came, we pushed the board to catch the wave and both kids sailed towards the beach. They popped up to their feet quickly and rode the wave to shore with ease. Funny how quickly kids can pick up new things :)
They probably got 5 or 6 waves each before we called it quits. Pretty awesome dad moment for me... watching my oldest son ride his first wave. And enjoying it just as much as I do.
Loch and Adi LOVED it... so there will be a lot more surfing in our future!
